SiSAL Journal special issue on Self-Access and Young Learners edited by Annamaria Pinter, Robert J. Werner and Jo Mynard has been published! Issue 6(4) features articles from colleagues based in the UK, Spain, Sweden, Ireland, Japan and China. This issue includes two book reviews (the reviews editor is Hisako Yamashita), and three papers in the ‘Language Learning Spaces’ series edited by Katherine Thornton. This workshop introduced some advising tools that teachers, learning advisors and learners can use in order to promote deep reflection on learning and facilitate the dialogue. The tools included: the goal-setting pyramid, a learning plan, the Wheel of Language Learning, and activities for building confidence and overcoming speaking anxiety. The presenters focussed mainly on the Wheel of Language Learning and introduced some advising discourse strategies that can be used in 1-1 dialogues with students. Continue reading
