SALC Survey results (6). Communities and events: How did respondent rate them?

This is the sixth post featuring the SALC survey results. A survey was administered to KUIS students in July 2016 in order to get their input on various facilities and support in order to inform improvements when we move to Building 8. Over the coming weeks, we will share some of the results on this news blog and on the student Facebook page. This post will focus on students’ views on SALC communities and events.

The events and communities were generally rated as ‘good’, but there is no way to check whether respondents were regular attendees. Ongoing feedback immediately after individual events tends to be extremely positive. Two separate questions may have been more effective here.

When Building 8 opens, we plan to place a high priority on welcoming students and encouraging them to get involved with one of the existing communities – or to create a new one.

SALC survey results (5). What facilities do students want in Building 8?

This is the fifth post featuring the SALC survey results. A survey was administered to KUIS students in July 2016 in order to get their input on various facilities and support in order to inform improvements when we move to Building 8. Over the coming weeks, we will share some of the results on this news blog and on the student Facebook page.

We asked students what requests they had for Building 8. The respondents had many requests! Here are the top ten.

The good news is, many of these requests will be available in Building 8 from April 2017. There will be a cafe on the first floor with a large eating area, and drinks available on the 2nd floor. We will be trialling some new conversation areas and activities which will help KUIS students to make friends and connections with others. There will be a larger range of study opportunities and facilities. Orientations will be available for everyone from April.
